The first session for the CORC Women’s Beginner Course was held on Sunday, 15th of May under sunny skies at Stromlo. There was a wide range of experiences in the group, with some coming back to riding after some time off, and for others, their first experience on single track.
Coaches Eliza Kwan and Sam Thompson took the participants through a thorough bike check before heading off to run through a braking drill the make sure that everyone was familiar with their brakes and could stop when they needed to. The women were encouraged to play with their braking and to see what they could make their bike do – from skidding to stopping hard.
The small group then split into smaller groups and went through some additional exercises for making gear changes and trail scanning. Next week the session will focus on body positioning.
Places are still available in the next two courses – Technical Uphill and Technical Downhill riding skills.
