Spoke up – for women’s health (2-8 September)

Transport Canberra and City Services encourages all women to Spoke up for women’s health. Celebrate this Women’s Health Week and kickstart your cycling habit for small trips in your community.

Physical activity is important for women’s health and riding a bike and walking for transport are great ways to get exercise and yourself a mental break.

The Active Travel Office is working with local organisations to host a number of events including:

  • Women’s cycling culture in Canberra, what can we ALL do to get more women cycling every day? Register here.
  • Community drop-ins in Lanyon and Erindale shopping centres in Tuggeranong
  • New parents meet up with (0-5yo) kids and demonstrations of e-cargo bikes and adapted cycles at the Belconnen Learn to Ride Centre
  • Coached novice and flat (handle)bar cycling skills session, hosted by Females in Training

The week will focus on overcoming barriers such as how to plan safe, direct and pleasant routes, as well as demonstrations of e-bikes, cargo bikes, trikes and adaptive bikes (for limited mobility), that can get everyone riding.

Bring your sisters, mothers, daughters, friends and colleagues and explore the unique aspects of Canberra women’s active travel culture during Women’s Health Week.

Consider organising your own event—bike, walk, meditation? Drop us a line and we will put it in our calendar [email protected]
