Local ACT rider and 5 x Australian Champion Dan McConnell rode to an impressive 9th place in today’s World Championships in XCO in Elite Men in Cairns. McConnell was just under 2 minutes behind Swiss rider Nino Schurter who won the Rainbow Jersey after a long battle with Jaroslav Kulhavy from the Chezc Republic who won silver and Thomas Litscher from Switzerland who rode in to bronze medal. CORC rider and coach Mark Tupalski was 66th in Elite Men.
Canberra local Rebecca Henderson rode in to a strong 20th place in the Women’s Elite World Championships. Jolanda Neff from Switzerland dominated the race and won ahead of Annie Last of Great Britain and Pauline Ferrand Prevot of France. CORC Rider and coach Eliza Smyth (Kwan) was 47th in Women Elite.
