Bec & Dan McConnell took the top steps on the podium in Women and Men Elite yesterday in AusCycling Tier 1 XCO in Stromlo Forest Park. The CORC XC crew had created a challenging and hard and course that tested the racers fitness and technical skills three weeks before the National Championships.
The world-famous Cardiac Arrest climb and Hammerhead descent drew a big crowd of spectators who witnessed Australia’s best XCO riders battle it out in Stromlo. 118 racers competed in categories from U13, U15 up to elite and e-bikes. Zoe Cuthbert came 2nd in Women Elite, 55 seconds behind Bec McConnell with Kathrine Hosking in third. Queenslander Cameron Wright came second in Men Elite with local Canberra rider Brendan Johnston in third. Joshua Carlson won Ebike men while local CORC racer Bev Anderson won Ebike women.
CORC also had a large group of junior riders who competed both in the U13 category on a separate course as well as in U15, U17 and U19 on the main course. All the junior riders displayed great skills and determination in the technical and challenging courses. Many of CORC’s master riders also impressed on the technical course.
CORC would like to thank all our fantastic volunteers for organising such a successful event. We already look forward to next year!
