CORC XC is back in Stromlo

The 2017 CORC XC #5 race at Mount Stromlo (eastern side adjacent to the dirt car parks) is all set and ready for Sunday 23 July.

A challenging 6.1km course has been set (thanks Harry McGurgan) and it will be a big surprise to some riders with a higher difficulty factor than we usually see for our club events. The course takes an anticlockwise loop commencing at Wattle Happen, Slant 6, Bluetongue, Skyline, Luge and Old Duffy. A continuous climb (with some moderate tech bits to keep you alert) then a long descent back to the start.

Please be mindful that this course requires significant skill and experience in order to ride it fast – so get out and practice as much as you can before race day. A Junior ‘C’ Mixed course will traverse Wattle Happen and Old Duffy to keep things safe.

Some housekeeping for XC #5 at Mount Stromlo:

I’ll need 3 marshals for this event to happen – this is to keep everyone safe as other riders at SFP may enter our course at Skyline, Luge and before Old Duffy. Please let me know if you can take on this job. The race can’t start without 3 marshals in place.

To help out a bit, one of the 3 marshals will win a Bike Culture or Onya Bike gift voucher worth $50 – so put your hand up please.

Remember to bring your 2016 race plate – any older plates should be discarded. Please don’t ride with them as they muck up the results system!

You can download a XC rego form at https://corc.asn.au/riding-racing/xc/xc-registration-forms/ Print, Complete and Bring it along to the race to beat the rego queue.

Because it’s been cold (very cold) of late, I’ve decided to allow a little time for the weather to warm things up – So rego is from 9:30am, with racing from 10:00am for Junior C Mixed, and everyone else at 10:30am. Parents, please be ready with your Junior ‘C’ entries for the earlier start time.
