Cross Country season is near

Just like that, the 2019 Cross Country season is here. The first of 5 races is coming up soon on 3rd Feb. Knowing it’s probably going to be hot we’ve picked a venue with plenty of shade, Majura Pines. Rego opens at 8am, with racing starting at 9. Entries are open now on entryboss: https://entryboss.cc/races/1892

New for this year is that our club events are listed as tier 3 events under MTBA’s new National Cup. What does this mean for you?
For many of you it won’t mean that much, but that’s ok. Our club races will remain fun races, catering for riders with a wide range of ambitions and abilities who want to challenge themselves and catch up with other like minded people. But for those that would like to be part of a national series, you will now collect points towards the MTBA national cup in every club race. Even if the points per round are lower for a tier 3 event, if you participate in all 5 club races you are well on the way to collecting points for the overall season. Why not challenge yourself to add in the tier 1 event at Stromlo in March and maybe do a weekend roadtrip to another tier 1 or 2 race? Most likely you will end up much higher on the overall ranking than you think! More info on the National Cup can be found here: https://www.nationalcup.com.au/

To align better with the National Cup we have updated the categories for this year. More information can be found here: https://corc.asn.au/riding-racing/xc/

We introduced online entries last year, and encourage everyone to take advantage of this as it make your and our lives much simpler. For us that volunteer our time to run these races the key advantages is less chaos at registration, and much less work to generate results as we capture accurate data. For the riders, the benefits is that once your are registered the process is dead simple and you can spend your time chatting to friends or warming up instead of queing up before the race. Worried about losing money in case you wake up sick on the morning of the race, or just don’t feel like racing? Don’t be, you can scratch yourself up until 7am on the day of the race! We will still cater for manual on the day entries (for now), but if you can please enter online.

CORC are seeing increased costs in organising our events, which means a slight price increase this year. We have kept it as low as we could – if you are a club member and enter online the changes are minimal. The 2019 race fees are as follows:

  • Senior CORC members: online entry: $18 per race, on the day entry (cash): $20 per race
  • Senior Non CORC members: online entry: $23 per race, on the day entry (cash): $25 per race
  • Junior (under 17) CORC members: online entry:$12 per race, on the day entry (cash)$15 per race
  • Junior (under 17) Non CORC members: Online entry: $15 per race, on the day entry (cash) $18 per race.

Finally, we havent’t forgotten about the overall results and prices from last season. Stay tuned for details.
