MITAS TERRA IN THE BERRA

The Mitas Terra in the Berra is a three-day mountain bike event in Canberra. Under the patronage of the Canberra Off-Road Cyclist Club it promises to be a celebration of the vibrant cycling lifestyle in the Capital.

Here is what this year’s event is all about:
Day 1: Ease into a cruisy spring weekend with a Friday afternoon at Mount Majura Vineyard! After a short-course cross-country race at Majura Pines enjoy an evening with local wines, food and live music right in the heart of the beautiful winery.
Day 2: The event moves to Stromlo Forest Park, the epicenter of Canberra’s mountain biking action. A 43 km loop with two timed race stages will take you to Kambah Pools and Pine Island via the Centenary Trail and along the banks of the iconic Murrumbidgee River. An e-Bike Demo Day will entertain you at Stromlo as well as food trucks, delicious local brews and a Pump Track Challenge. Little shredders will love the Kids MTB Fair!
Day 3: Test your endurance with the AMB 100 Marathon – conquer the infamous ‘monster circuit’, which connects the most trail sections of any event held at Stromlo Forest Park! Terra in the Berra racers can choose from 1 or 2 laps.

The entry fees are from $120-$150 for all three days and you can still race the AMB100 event as a standalone event.

The perfect weekend for mountain bikers and their foodie friends and families!

We need your support!
We would like to ask you for your support of this event – please participate in it this year to show how passionate we all are about cycling. Come as spectators and there will be kids activities for families at Stromlo Forest Park on the Saturday and it would be amazing if some members put up their hands as volunteers. Rocky Trails has offered entry vouchers for 2020 events in Canberra in return – if you are interested in joining the crew for the weekend or just one day, or even just a few hours of marshalling activities, please contact [email protected].

Our mission together with Rocky Trail Rocky Trail Entertainment have been actively engaging in trail advocacy alongside CORC with local government and tourism representatives to promote mountain biking. We hope to secure more trails in future – this is a long-term process and we need to show the strength of the local mountain biking community in numbers. Rocky Trail’s strategy for the event is for this year to very consciously establish a point of difference to existing interstate stage races, which is why the key message and tag line for 2019 will be to be “A Mission to Ride Canberra’s iconic Mountain Bike Trails”. It will be a multi-day event that is accessible to a wide range of riders and for the future the aim is to grow the event into an ACT Flagship event over the next few years together with CORC, which will have a very strong competition element, offering an attractive stage race. A major part of future marketing strategies will be to develop a distinct point of difference on the national and international multi-day mountain bike event scene.
