Fitability Tandem Cycling program – come and try day
November 10 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Fitability Tandem Cycling program offers tandem cycling opportunities principally to vision impaired people in the Canberra region, as well as to those with other disabilities who would otherwise be unable to cycle independently.
Fitability is seeking more volunteers to act as tandem pilots, facilitating increased ride opportunities for vision impaired individuals in our community. Our tandem rides include weekend social rides of varying distances, participation in endurance cyclo-sportive events and tandem racing opportunities.
We are holding a ‘come and try’ event and the details are as follows:
Date – Saturday 10 November 2018
Time – 2 to 4pm
Location – forecourt of the National Museum of Australia (Lawson Crescent, Acton)
*please bring own cycling helmet
While most Fitability riders are volunteers, there also exists opportunities to ride tandem through the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). Under the NDIS people with a disability may be able to use their NDIS funds to arrange the regular support of a tandem pilot and reach their own recreational and social goals.
